Indigenous Jumpers

About our jumpers

Cottesloe Amateur Football Club has had its first Indigenous jumper designed to be worn during our Indigenous Round on July 17th, 2021. The jumper has been specially designed by some of the Indigenous leaders at the club to share and celebrate Indigenous culture. To be able to wear this jumper means a lot to all of the players in our club and is an important representation of how much we respect and value our Indigenous players and their cultures.

The creation of this jumper was a player led initiative championed by Zachary Green, Jasmine Bin Omar and Taylor Hayward who worked for several months to create a jumper that signified what it means to have Indigenous representation at the club.

"We want to be able to show everyone how special our culture is and letting you know our culture is your culture as well." - Zachary Green, Gunditjamara and Palawa.

The final design tells the story of coming together and shared community. The four outer circles leading to the inner circle and rooster foot, represent the different meeting places from which our players come and the journeys they have taken to get to Cottesloe Football Cub. The symbols on each side of the rooster's foot signify the men and women of the club being supported through Cottesloe's one club mentality, with the men supporting the women and the women supporting the men. The back of the jumper includes the names of every Indigenous player’s (past and present) mob to acknowledge the contribution they have made to Cottesloe Football Club and what it is today.

We’re incredibly excited to announce and share our Inaugural Indigenous Jumpers’ journey with Marawar.

As a Western Australian based building services company, Marawar delivers integrated design, construction, civil works and maintenance services for commercial and public sector clients across WA. But as an Aboriginal-owned enterprise on a mission to transform Indigenous lives, they do so much more. For their clients, community and for Western Australia.

Marawar has only been in business since 2018 and is under the leadership of entrepreneur and Nyoongar Traditional Landowner Gerard Matera. Marawar has become a state-wide force in the commercial, residential and civil construction and maintenance industry. And as they’ve done so, they’ve started a ripple effect that’s transforming the industry and the lives, prospects and potential of Aboriginal people and communities throughout WA.

Without the generous support from community minded businesses like Marawar, our club would not be able to fulfill visions such as our Indigenous Jumpers.

Thank you to Marawar for their generous two year sponsorship of our Inaugural Indigenous Jumpers.
